► Remember Remember the 5th of November...
3rd November 2008 10:49 am

Are you worrying about your growing student debt?
Do you think you're paying too much to come to University?
Do you believe it’s fair that students could soon be paying up to £7,000 per year?!
No? Then Support this campaign!
When top-up fees were brought in, the Government promised a review of the system in 2009. The National Union of Students (NUS) sees this review as an opportunity to replace the broken education funding system with one that is fair and fixes the problems of the current way of funding higher education.
September the 3rd saw the NUS launch of Broke and Broken: A Critique of the Higher Education Funding System. The report is a comprehensive overview of the faults in the current funding system. The report is a vehicle to get the message to the wider public and has already been covered by the media, from across the political spectrum.
The Day of Action – Students in the Red
‘Remember remember the 5th of November’
On Wednesday the 5th of November, Students’ Unions across the country will be taking part in a day of localised action and Bishop Grosseteste Students’ Union is no exception! We will be joining the University of Lincolns Students’ Union for a demonstration in Lincoln high street. Collaboratively we will be creating a line of debt on the high street, with students lining up with placards stating how much debt they will be at their studies. Red balloons will be handed out and the main University College building will be washed in Red of the remainder of the week, with a projected pound sign on the front.
This may not directly effect your time at University, but it could effect siblings, friends and even your children! So act now!
You may have already seen us on the front page of Lincolnshire Echo and even seen BG Students on prime time local news; Look North! There will be plenty more news coverage to be apart of, so make sure you're involved!
You can follow this link to the Lincolnshire Echo website, read the article and share your opinions!
How can you get involved?
Meet at the Students’ Union at 11:45am on Wednesday 5th and get ready to make a difference!
We are also offering students involved with the event, tickets to the engine shed for £1 that night!
