…fights for your rights
The Students’ Union spends much of it’s time fighting for the causes that you believe in, whether it be national campaigns or small scale ones that only affect the students of BG, We are committed to fighting for your rights. The Students’ Union has run numerous campaigns over the past few years that have directly benefited its students, some of have been ideas of the Union and others of the students themselves.
BGSU is currently participating in the national NUS led campaign ‘Admission Impossible’, by doing this we are joining hundreds of other Universities across the country to fight to keep the cap on tuition fees so the costs of coming to University stop increasing. You can be involved with this campaign too, as last year students from BG went down to London to join thousands of others to march through the streets to get their voices heard.
The Students’ Union also runs campaigns closer to home, for example we are currently running a campaign to get a cash machine on campus. Our Welfare team are also running a campaign to get a nurse back on campus, as you can imagine the benefits of this would be extremely positive.
If you have an idea for a campaign then let us know and we will give you all the advice and support you need to get it off the ground. If we felt it was something that was in the interest of the wider student body, we could possibly run it on your behalf!

BG Students’ Union aim to give you a voice and to give you the support and guidance to make a difference whilst fighting for the things you believe in.
We offer you the opportunity to get your own voices heard, not only within the University College, but also nationally. We value your thoughts and opinions very strongly and we want to give you as much opportunities as possible to air them.
Each week the SU Exec runs Student Council, this is an opportunity for any student to come along and hear about SU developments and forthcoming campaigns, but it’s also a chance for you to ask us anything you like. If you have an issue with your Union, your course or your accommodation etc, then student council is a prime place for you to come. We will listen to everything you have to say and try and help the best we can, we aim to take your queries and comments straight to the people in question and get them resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.

BG Students’ Union is here to support you, not only with issues linked to your course or accommodation, but also with any personal issues that may arise throughout your time at University. Feel free to approach Union officers at anytime.
We have a very strong Welfare team who are always on hand to offer help and advice to students in need of it. The Welfare team offer a range of services such as a confidential listening service, support and advice on health issues and information on a whole range of national campaigns.

Your Students’ Union is here to support you academically with any problems that may arise. Your membership entitles you to free representation in cases such as plagiarism or collusion etc. If you do have any problems were here to help and will fight your case.
We intend to make easily accessible union and university policies, so you are fully aware of your rights and the rules. This is an attempt to reduce academic misconducts. We understand as a union that you may need us as much as we need you and will be there for you 100%.

The Union is not just about campaigning; we also want to make sure you have a darn good time here by enhancing your student experience!
We have a brand new SU Bar which not only offers you a good place to go and socialise, but also some very cheap drinks! (What more could you ask for?)
We have a variety of entertainment on offer during the week, so you should hopefully find something that appeals to you! We have some top-notch bands play live at the union as well as professional comedians. We also have some great nights run by the Ents Team, RAG Team, Societies and the Welfare Team.

BG Students’ Union also has many student run societies, which anybody can join and be apart of! Some of our societies include; Netball, Football, Musicals, Poker, Dance and even our own Big Brother Society!
