As a strong and active union we run campaigns that directly affect students at BG and also participate in national campaigns, some of which are run by the National Union of Students (NUS). It is the role of the entire executive to ensure campaigns are run.
The NUS is an organisation that campaigns for the rights of all students throughout the country. They run campaigns concerning tuition fees, health, student debt, equality etc.

“Our commitment to supporting student development opportunities is unparalleled and we intend to engage and empower all our members to defend and extend the rights of students throughout the UK” (National Union Of students).
There will be opportunities throughout the year to be involved with national campaigns for example last year students went to London and joined the march to keep the cap on tuition fees; Admission Impossible.
Since our institution specialises in education, this year with your help we are setting up a NUT society (National Union of Teachers), which will run education campaigns. This society will run like any other society with a chair, vice, publicist, treasurer etc. The difference is that these society campaigns will be funded by the NUT. They will pay for materials and you will be working with them closely with my continued support (vice president Democracy and Education).
If you are interested in any of the positions on this society make sure you attend our first student council. It is a great opportunity to fight for issues concerning the students and will look great on your CV!
