What does the Student Activities Officer do?

• Is a member of the Core Students’ Union Executive and undertakes all the responsibilities that come with it.

• Oversees the running of societies via the Societies Officer and assists them where necessary.

• Ultimately responsible for all clubs and societies formed in accordance with the Societies Standing Orders.

• Responsible for promoting volunteering opportunities to students on a local, regional and national level.

• Provides students with the opportunity to participate in a range of sporting and outdoor events.

• Organises the annual Volunteering fair for the students of Bishop Grosseteste.

• Liaises with University Colleges’ Director of Foundation in promoting and involving students with the foundation fund and other fundraising activities.

• Keeps the Student Activities Officer fully informed of all society developments.

• Ensures clubs and societies have a high profile throughout the year.

• Gives guidance and advice to clubs and societies on matters of organisation and administration.

• Monitors the expenditure of clubs and societies alongside the Student Activities Officer and Finance Officer.

• Organises and chairs society forum meetings to discuss relevant issues and to promote communication and co-ordination.

• Helps to publicise and promote all society events including bar nights, matches and general meetings.
