Welfare Officer

What does the Welfare Officer do?
-
Is a member of the Core Students’ Union Executive and undertakes all the responsibilities that come with it.

Is responsible for the running of the Students’ Union Welfare Service and team.

Liaises with the University College pastoral care and student support system to ensure continuity of care for all students.

Ensures that campaigns of a relevant nature are implemented and advertised in the Students’ Union and that awareness of such issues is raised.

Liaises with the National Blood service to ensure students are able to give blood at the relevant times throughout the year.
- Along with the Welfare team, organises events to raise awareness of campaigns and promote health issues.

Ensures minority groups are represented effectively by the Union and the University College, these include LGBT, Mature, ethnic minority and international students.

Convenes and chairs LGBT and Mature Students Committees.
- Raises awareness, publicises, promotes and takes action upon Equal Opportunities issues to all students.
Welfare Secretary

Works as a member of the Welfare team, actively supporting each member with their individual responsibilities.

Responsible for the running of the confidential listening service; Speakeasy. This included the training of SU Executive and students.

Minutes and archives all Welfare meetings.

Supports and assists the Nightline listening service by liaising with the head of Nightline to recruit members, publicise and volunteer for the service.
Welfare Publicist

Works as a member of the Weively supporting each member with their individual responsibilities.

Ensures all Welfare related events are publicised as appropriate.
- Responsible for promoting the services and products the Welfare team have on offer.
